golf swing follow through
what should I do for my knee?

I was playing some golf today, when I swung and heard a pop on my follow through. I immediately fell to the ground in the worst knee pain I could imagine. After catching my breath and screaming a little, I was carted off to the clubhouse where I began icing the knee. The pain subsided after about 20 minutes. I have been icing with my leg elevated on the couch. I can walk on the leg, and have complete range of motion. There is minimal swelling. What should I do: walk? rest? ice? doctor? wait it out? I have no health insurance and am scared that if I go to the doctor he will want me to go for an MRI, which I couldn’t afford right now, unless it was absolutely necessary. Any recommendations would be great. Thanks.
c0mmun: When I last hurt my knee (miniscus) I was giving an MRI, aren’t x-rays for bones, MRI’s for cartilige/ligaments?
well, I’ve been icing on and off for about two hours, but now the ice is making it hurt. There really is no swelling. Should I continue to ice?

Well most people who come on here have no health insurance. I’ll try to help you as much as possible with what you said.

It seems like you are fine. The pop was just something like when u crack you fingers(air bubble release within bone) It’s harmless. I base this observation on the face that you say you have a full range of motion. If anything was broken you would see localized swelling, extreme pain and lost of motion. What you did sounds like you popped your knee cap. Nothing serious….
But If I’m wrong and you did break something… then the you could get a clot and cause more problems…

Btw… They give u an x-ray not mri…
